Lenovo Chromebook S330 Laptop Review | Tech Orbes

I will review Lenovo Chromebook S330 Laptop in this post. The finest laptops won’t disappoint you because you didn’t spend a lot of money on them. Value-priced notebooks are available with full-HD displays, reliable performance, lengthy battery life, and all the necessary connectors. Even if it will be on the smaller side, a touch-screen laptop is still available in this price range. Even our best laptops page featured some of these.

After examining dozens of inexpensive models, the 15-inch Acer Aspire E 15 and the Acer Aspire 5 are the finest laptops under $500 with Windows 10. To assist you in choosing between the two, we even wrote a face-off contrasting the Acer Aspire E15 and Acer Aspire 5.

The HP Chromebook x2 and Lenovo Duet 5 Chromebooks are currently the best Chromebooks you can purchase for around $500. The new Acer Swift 3 we recently evaluated didn’t perform well enough to make our list because of its short battery life.

Because of its low price, you may assume that the Lenovo Chromebook S330 will seem cheap, but that is not the case. Despite being mostly plastic, the Lenovo Chromebook S330 is remarkably attractive, light, and robust.

The plastic of the laptop feels plain. In any event, the black hue of the Chromebook is rather appealing. Sadly, although scratch-resistant, the laptop’s matte black body is readily fingerprinted.

The good news is that the plastic chassis is of good quality and has no sharp edges or corners. The textured lid of the Lenovo Chromebook S330 is also pleasant to the touch when closed. In addition, the lid features a Chrome logo in the upper right corner.

A Lenovo logo may also be on the lid’s upper left corner. The lid is secured to the base by two substantial, reliable hinges that span virtually the full length of the laptop’s back. The lid can only open because this is not a 2-in-1 convertible DJ laptop.

When you open the Lenovo Chromebook S330’s lid, the 14-inch anti-glare display is surrounded by substantial bezels. A microphone hole and 720p webcam are located on the top bezel.

An image of Lenovo may be seen at the bottom bezel. The Virtual DJ laptop’s display has anti-glare, which means it resists reflection, as was previously mentioned. As a result, you’ll feel comfortable working outside or in bright settings. The 14-inch screen also has an FHD (1920 x 1080) screen resolution. The screen is clear and vibrant.

The viewing angles, however, are terrible. The display screen is reasonably bright, registering a maximum brightness of 220 nits, despite the panel’s low viewing angles. Overall, I believe the Chromebook S330’s display will be sufficient for daily use for most consumers.

Along with its functional display screen, the keyboard is a pleasant addition that will please most users. The keyboard’s keys feature good key travel and a pleasant, clicky feel.

In addition to the features listed overhead, the keyboard’s keys provide great responsiveness. Sadly, the keyboard lacks a backlight. However, given the laptop’s beginning price, this is understandable. A sizable touchpad with a smooth, responsive plastic surface is underneath the keyboard.

The integrated click buttons on the touchpad also have a respectable amount of travel, exactly like the keys on the keyboard. Two speakers are located beneath the Lenovo Chromebook S330. These speakers provide a very loud sound.

However, these speakers lack bass, just like most Chromebook speakers. The Lenovo Chromebook S330 has a 720p webcam built into the display’s top bezel, as was already mentioned. This webcam doesn’t well capture colorful images.

The webcam, though, is sufficient for video calls. The Lenovo Chromebook S330 comes with ChromeOS, the Google operating system, much like any other Chromebook. An easy-to-use operating system called ChromeOS makes it possible to download Android apps, stream videos, and access the internet quickly.

Connectivity Options

The connectivity options of the Lenovo Chromebook S330 are fairly good. For some users, these can be insufficient. A USB 3.0 port, an HDMI 4.1 port, an SD card reader and a USB-C port are all located on the laptop’s left side.

The USB-C port can also be used to charge the powerful laptop in addition to acting as a display port. The Kensington lock and 3.5 audio connectors are on the laptop’s right side. The Lenovo Chromebook S330 has dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.1 for connectivity.

Because of its plastic construction, the Lenovo Chromebook S330 is fairly lightweight, as was already mentioned. As a result, it is just 1450 g and 325.7 x 232.3 x 20.8 mm in size. The ASUS Chromebook C423NA weighs less in comparison.

The ASUS Chromebook C423NA is 322.6 x 228 x 16.1 mm and 1340 g in weight. The Lenovo Chromebook S330 is still among the best portable Chromebooks on the market. Users can move around with it or store it in a backpack because of its light.

The Lenovo Chromebook S330 comes with PowerVR GX6250 Graphics as its graphics processor. The base GPU frequency of this graphics card is 700 MHz. Unfortunately, there aren’t many boosts for the GPU.

Additionally, it lacks a dedicated VRAM. Because the graphics card is integrated rather than discrete, it lacks dedicated VRAM. The CPU has an integrated graphics card. As a result, the CPU and integrated GPU share the computer’s primary memory (4 GB RAM in this case).

As a result, you shouldn’t anticipate the Lenovo Chromebook S330 with PowerVR GX6250 Graphics to deliver excellent gaming performance. Additionally, don’t anticipate this Chromebook to run graphically intensive software or sophisticated games.

I used the Lenovo Chromebook S330 to play a few android games to test the capability of this graphics card. The laptop provided a great frame rate of 59 fps when playing the Android game Dead Trigger 2. Temple Run 2 ran smoothly on the laptop, offering a frame rate of 60 fps.

In conclusion, the Lenovo Chromebook S330’s graphic performance isn’t particularly strong. However, this is understandable given that Chromebooks aren’t designed for gaming or running graphically intensive applications.

After considering everything, I’ll give the Lenovo Chromebook S330 an eight in the area of graphics. This rating is based on the laptop’s outstanding frame rate when playing several Android games.

The Chromebook S330 is powered by a 3-cell, 45 Wh Li-Polymer battery from Lenovo. Lenovo claimed that the Chromebook S330’s battery should last 10 hours in their advertising. Who believes the battery life claims made by manufacturers for their laptops? Well, I’m not!

To confirm Lenovo’s claim about its battery, I put the Lenovo Chromebook S330 through a battery test. I charged the laptop from 0% to 100% to begin the battery test, which took roughly 3 hours.

After that, I joined a WiFi network and set the laptop’s brightness to 50%. I continued exploring the internet nonstop until my laptop gave out. The laptop died after this test after operating for 7 hours. This falls short of Lenovo’s actual claim by around 3 hours.

The ASUS Chromebook C523NA performed poorer in comparison, lasting only 6 hours. The HP Chromebook 14 had greater battery life, lasting nine hours. In conclusion, even though it falls short of Lenovo’s goal, the battery life of the Lenovo Chromebook S330 is still above average. I will give the Lenovo Chromebook S330 an eight out of 10.

Product Comparison

With a 14-inch FHD display, the Lenovo Chromebook S330 is less than one inch thick, 3.3 pounds light, and secure. Online or offline, ideal for daily computing and multimedia. The Chromebook 317 is suitable for people willing to forego these benefits in exchange for a healthy bank account and a roomy Chromebook with a sizable display, even though it doesn’t have the brightest display, the fastest processor, or the longest battery life.

Product Testing

The battery can last up to 10 hours when I use the least screen brightness; nevertheless, because it has fan slots, I do not anticipate it to warm up during usage. On Linux, running mobile apps and similar programs has some CPU limitations, but when it comes to free office, Gimp functions well.

The most value for the money can be found if you only need a computer for browsing the web, watching documents or movies, or even writing (when you buy it was at the lowest price).

In conclusion, despite being composed of plastic, the Lenovo Chromebook S330 Laptop has a good build quality. Due to its plastic construction, this laptop also has a nice keyboard and is lightweight. As a result, I think the Lenovo Chromebook S330 merits an eight in this design review section.
